Sporting Intentions is doing the bike checks again this year for the Relay. Bike checks are mandatory and Sporting Intentions will do them free of charge. You can have your bike checked anytime starting today. You just need to give your name and team name to Andrew Scott and once the bike check is complete you will get a sticker certifying your bike is good to go for the race. Bike checks the day of the race will take place on site but will be limited so don’t miss out and get your bike done prior to the race to prevent congestion.

Over $8000 was raised for Cycling PEI and the Heart & Stroke Foundation of PEI from the 2012 race.
Thanks to all sponsors, particpants, volunteers and organizers!

From 1978 to 2006 the PEI Region of the Canadian Red Cross organized the “Red Cross Relay” with the help of many volunteers. In 2007 a team of volunteers took over organization of the event under the new title “Red Island Relay”. In 2011 Cycling PEI took over the event and are looking to grow the event and keep it operating. We want to offer a first class event and get back some of it’s former prestige as one of the premier sporting events on PEI.
There will be an after party following the event. We are encouraging people to stay down on site and camp. There will be music in the event center building starting early evening. Special camping rates for anyone involved with the relay are $15/night just indicate you are with the relay to get the special rate. We will be having a bonfire in the evening and a free pancake breakfast in the next morning. We will be mingling in the event center for the evening.
Hopefully your training is going well with only 8 days left until the 2011 Red Island Relay!
Starting now bike checks will take place at Sporting Intentions until race day. Bike checks can happen on-site the day of the race but we encourage everyone to get their bike checked early to avoid congestion.
Register today because any registrations after May 25th will be $70/person instead of $50.
You can register in person at the Heart & Stroke office on 180 Kent Street in Charlottetown.
